I agree with Doc Hawk on this. If an alien race is advanced enough to track us down there’s no reason to think they’d view us with any particular level of dignity. They’d probably consider us a subspecies. We barely have regard for sustainability within our own atmosphere, so if we found usable resources on another planet we’d certainly exploit them. Why should we expect an alien race to be any different?
The best we could probably hope for is that the aliens view our measly planet as useless and not worth bothering with. Or, perhaps, that they think we’re sort of cute and decide to put us in their intergalactic zoo like on that episode of The Twilight Zone. Man, that was a great show.
